The quick comparison
Start with what matters to you.
Think about how a ring feels, how it looks, and the care it needs. Width, finish and inlays matter, too.
| Material | Feel on the hand | The look | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tungsten carbide | Substantial | Clean, contemporary finishes | Protect from hard impacts |
| Titanium | Light | Silver-gray or coated colors | Check coatings and inlays |
| Ceramic | Light | Crisp black or white | Protect from chips and impacts |
| Damascus steel | Varies by design | Layered, flowing patterns | Follow the specific steel finish |
| 14k gold | Varies with width and profile | Yellow, white or rose tones | Ask about finish and servicing |
| Wood inlay | Depends on the base material | Warm grain and natural variation | Extra care for the wood inlay |
A starting point, rather than a rating. Always check the specifications of the individual ring.
Meet the materials
Six ways to make it yours.
Explore the details, with examples from the Aydins collection.

01 / For a weightier band
Tungsten carbide
A substantial feel. A modern finish.
Tungsten offers a reassuring weight and a highly scratch-resistant surface. It is a strong starting point if you like a substantial band.
Before you chooseHard does not mean unbreakable: tungsten can fracture under impact. Coatings and inlays need their own care.

02 / For a lighter feel
Titanium
Easy on the hand. Full of character.
Titanium is a lightweight choice for everyday wear. Explore simple profiles or details such as the carbon fiber inlay shown here.
Before you chooseCheck the full design, including coatings and inlays, if you have a metal sensitivity. Titanium can still show wear.

03 / For a bold black or white band
Ceramic
Rich color. A clean silhouette.
Jewelry ceramic pairs a light feel with a scratch-resistant surface. Black and white bands offer a crisp, graphic look.
Before you chooseCeramic can chip or break under a hard impact. Handle it with care, especially when removing it over a hard floor.

04 / For distinctive pattern
Damascus steel
The pattern is part of the story.
Layers of steel create the flowing patterns associated with Damascus. Look closely at the individual design: an inlay or sleeve can give it a very different character.
Before you chooseSteel composition, surface treatment and inlays vary by ring. Follow the care instructions for the exact piece you choose.

05 / For a traditional precious metal
14k gold
A classic, in your own color.
Yellow, white and rose gold bring different tones to a familiar classic. The other metals in the alloy help determine its color and characteristics.
Before you chooseSolid gold and gold-colored coatings are different constructions. Read the material description, and ask about servicing for your chosen design.

06 / For warmth and natural grain
Wood inlay
Natural texture. Personal character.
A wood inlay brings organic color and grain to a metal or ceramic band. The ring shown here pairs koa wood with black ceramic.
Before you chooseThe band and the wood are separate materials. Protect natural wood from prolonged soaking, harsh chemicals and abrasion.
Shop wood inlayWhich material is best for everyday wear?
Start with your priorities: weight, appearance and the care you are comfortable with. Then compare the complete design, including its finish, stones and inlays. There is no single material that suits everyone.
Does scratch-resistant mean scratch-proof?
No. Scratch resistance is only one property. A hard material may still chip or fracture, and a coating or inlay can wear differently from the band beneath it.
What if I have sensitive skin?
Ask about the complete composition of the specific ring, including alloys, coatings, inlays and any interior sleeve. A material name alone is not a guarantee that a ring will suit your skin.
Can I change the size later?
Traditional resizing and exchanging a ring for another size are different services. Tungsten cannot be conventionally resized. Check the options for your chosen design and read our sizing and warranty information before ordering.
How should I look after a ring with an inlay?
Follow the care guidance for both the base and the inlay. Natural wood needs extra care around prolonged water exposure and chemicals. Our ring care guide is a helpful next step.
