The Metal
Tungsten carbide is the hardest wedding-band metal made - roughly 4× harder than titanium and 10× harder than 18k gold. That's not marketing language; it's a measurable Mohs hardness of 8.5-9. In practical terms: this band resists scratches from keys, tools, gym equipment, and daily contact with desks, steering wheels, and phone cases. It will look the same in five years as it looks the day you open the box.
Both tones on the SAMSON are PVD (physical vapor deposition) finishes bonded to the tungsten core at the molecular level - the gold and the black are molecularly integrated, not painted or plated. The Faceted Two-Tone Face with Off-Center Gold Groove
The SAMSON has more going on than a typical two-tone ring. Across the face: a brushed yellow-gold-tone center takes the crown of the dome. Care Instructions
Clean with warm water, a drop of mild dish soap, and a soft cloth. Dry thoroughly. For polished or textured tungsten surfaces, a microfiber cloth buffs out fingerprints and smudges. Avoid harsh chemicals (bleach, acetone, strong solvents) on PVD-finished bands - they can dull the color layer over time. Because tungsten at Mohs 8.5-9 doesn't scratch from keys, tools, or daily contact, the band stays sharp-looking with almost no maintenance.

Q: Will either PVD finish wear off? A: No. Both the gold and the black are PVD-bonded at the molecular level to the tungsten core. Neither is paint or plating - they won't wear through under normal daily wear.

- First 6 months: free replacement, no fee.
- 6 to 12 months: $34.50 flat fee.

Applies to platinum, 10k / 14k / 18k gold, sterling silver, sterling silver with gold plating.
- First 6 months: free replacement, no fee.
- After 6 months: quoted per case based on current metal market prices, because a warranty replacement in a precious metal requires new metal at current spot pricing.

- Normal wear over time (finish dulling, patina, small daily-use scratches)
- Damage from drops, impact, or excessive force
- Damage from chlorine, harsh chemicals, or abrasive cleaning
- Intentional damage
- Loss in shipping (covered only if you added the Aydins Protection Plan at checkout)

International Shipping
International shipping is US$20 per order, including Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany and Australia (the converted equivalent where checkout shows another currency). Estimated international transit time is 3–15 business days after dispatch, depending on your destination. If your country isn't listed at checkout, contact us. Customers are responsible for any import duties unless otherwise stated.

About tungsten carbide
Tungsten carbide is a very hard compound of tungsten and carbon. A tungsten band has a solid, weighty feel, much heavier than titanium or ceramic.
Finishes and inlays
Some tungsten rings have a gold, rose gold or black plated finish over the tungsten base. Plating is a surface layer, so it can show wear over time, most often on the edges. Inlays such as wood, carbon fiber, opal or stone are separate materials set into the band.
Worth knowing
- Tungsten carbide does not bend. A hard, sharp impact can crack or chip it.
- It cannot be resized like gold. Size exchanges are handled through the Aydins Lifetime Sizing program for the original purchaser. See Returns & Exchanges for details.
- In an emergency, a tungsten ring cannot be cut off with a standard ring cutter. It is removed by cracking it instead.
Care
- Wash with mild soap and warm water, then dry with a soft cloth.
- Take it off around chlorine, bleach and harsh cleaners, which are hardest on plated finishes and inlays.
- Skip ultrasonic cleaners and jewelry dips.
