This ring is solid 10k gold. Not plated, not filled, not a gold-colored coating over a base metal. 10k is a real gold alloy that is 41.7 percent pure gold blended with silver, copper, and zinc for strength. The alloy runs through the whole ring, not just the surface, which is why it holds its color and value over decades of wear. Yellow, white, and rose all use the same 10k gold base with different alloy proportions that produce the color.

What is the difference between 10k, 14k, and 18k gold?

10k is 41.7 percent pure gold, 14k is 58.3 percent, 18k is 75 percent. The other percentage is alloy metals that add strength. Higher karat means richer gold color but also softer metal that shows scratches faster. 10k is the most durable of the common wedding band karats. 14k is the balance most people choose. 18k has the richest color but marks up faster with daily wear. All three are solid gold and hold their value; the choice comes down to color preference versus scratch resistance.

Is 10k gold good for daily wear?

Yes. 10k is actually the most wear-friendly of the common gold karats because it has more alloy metals for hardness. It handles kitchen work, gym use, yard work, and travel without special care. Yellow and rose 10k need no special maintenance beyond an occasional wipe with a soft cloth. White 10k is rhodium plated at the factory for the bright silver-white finish; that rhodium wears off over 3 to 5 years of daily wear and can be re-plated at any jeweler. Do yellow, white, and rose gold cost the same?

Yes. All three colors within the same karat use the same amount of pure gold. The alloy metals mixed in to produce the color (silver and zinc for white, copper for rose) are inexpensive compared to gold, so the price is essentially the same across yellow, white, and rose 10k. What changes the price on this listing is the width you choose. A 3mm 10k gold band uses less metal than an 8mm 10k gold band, so the wider widths cost more regardless of color.

Can this ring be engraved?

Yes. Free inside engraving is included on every order, up to 30 characters. Engraving is applied at our Texas workshop the day your order comes in. Common engravings include wedding date, initials, a short message, or a coordinate. Because engraving is included free, you do not pay extra to personalize the ring. If you exchange or resize the ring later under the Aydins Lifetime Sizing program, the replacement ring is re-engraved free. Engraving is inside only; the outside of the ring stays smooth.

Is it comfort fit and what does that mean?

Yes, comfort fit. The inside of the ring is rounded rather than flat, so the ring slides over the knuckle easily and sits smooth against the finger without pinching. Comfort fit rings feel about a half size larger than a standard-fit ring, so if you are between sizes we recommend ordering your normal ring size. Comfort fit is the standard style for modern wedding bands because it is easier to put on and more comfortable during long wear. It also reduces the pressure marks that a flat interior can leave.

What warranty, returns, and sizing policy backs this ring?

Every Aydins ring is backed by the Aydins Lifetime Warranty. Free coverage in the first 6 months against breaks and material defects. Returns are accepted within 30 days from delivery. Because this ring includes free engraving, engraved rings are exchange only rather than returnable. Free exchanges within the first 30 days on unengraved rings. Engraved exchanges within the first 30 days are $34.50. After the first 30 days for sizing, and after 6 months for warranty replacement, precious metal rings work a little differently than our tungsten or ceramic rings. Because 10k gold requires new metal at current market cost and gold prices fluctuate, sizing and warranty fees for gold rings are quoted per case based on current gold prices at the time.
