Lesson 2 · Ring fit & care · 51 seconds
Why two rings in your size can feel different.
Ring size measures the inside. But the inside is not always the same shape. The lesson cuts two bands open at the same size so you can see what changes the feel.
What this lesson shows
Flat inside, rounded inside, and width all change how a size feels.
Two bands at the same labeled size can feel different because the inside shape is different. Flat interiors contact more of your finger. Rounded interiors (called comfort fit) curve away toward the edges and can slide over the knuckle more easily.
Band width then changes it again: a wider band covers more finger, so it can feel snugger even at the same size.
Three quick takeaways
What to actually do when you buy
- Comfort fit (rounded inside) is Aydins' default band interior. It curves away from the finger at the edges and can slide over the knuckle more easily than a flat-inside band at the same labeled size.
- Compare both the width and the inside shape when you compare rings at your size. A wider band or a flat interior tends to feel snugger than a narrow or rounded one at the same size.
- When you can, size with a ring whose width and inside shape match the band you plan to buy, then verify the fit before you commit. Do not assume a universal size-up or size-down rule works for every ring; sources advise against that.
The cutaway bands are modeled generic educational objects. Both share identical outside geometry (6 mm wide) and identical inside diameter; only the inside profile differs (flat vs rounded).

Two rings in your size can still feel different. Here's why. Ring size measures the inside of the ring. But the inside isn't always the same shape. Let's cut both bands open. This one is flat inside. This one is rounded. That's the shape called comfort fit. A rounded inside can slide over the knuckle more easily, so the two can feel different in the same size. Width matters too. A wider band covers more of your finger, so it can feel snugger. Compare the width and the inside shape, and if you can, try a sizer that matches them. Save this before choosing your band.
