Are these real diamonds?
Yes. Lab-grown diamonds are 100% real diamonds. Chemically, optically, and physically identical to mined diamonds. Same 10-of-10 Mohs hardness, same refractive index, same brilliance. The only difference is origin: lab-grown stones form in a controlled lab environment in 4 to 6 weeks instead of millions of years underground. Any certified gemological lab (IGI, GIA, GCAL) will test them as real diamonds and issue a full diamond report. A gemological lab can identify how a diamond formed, but you will not see the difference with the naked eye.
What does IGI certified mean?
IGI is the International Gemological Institute, an independent gemological laboratory. Every stone in this listing is graded by IGI for its 4Cs (Carat, Color, Clarity, Cut) and comes with a physical certificate documenting the specific measurements of that stone. The certificate has a unique report number you can verify at igi.org. This gives you an independent description of your stones. A grading report is not a guarantee of value.
What quality tier are these stones?
F+ color, VS+ clarity across every pair. F+ means F color or better on the D-to-Z color scale, which is the colorless range (D, E, F). VS+ means VS2 clarity or better, which is eye-clean at normal viewing distance and any inclusions require magnification to spot. This is the premium quality tier most jewelers advertise as top-grade. We use this tier across every metal and every size in this listing, so a 1/4 ctw pair is the same quality as a 2 ctw pair, just a smaller stone.
What size should I get?
Depends on the daily-wear versus statement balance you want. Most first-time diamond stud buyers go 1/2 ctw as the classic reads-as-a-real-diamond-stud-across-the-room size (about 4.1mm per stone). 1/4 ctw and 1/3 ctw sit closer to the ear as everyday shimmer. 1 ctw and above make a statement without becoming impractical. For gifts, 1/2 ctw is the safest choice. If you already own smaller studs and want an upgrade, jump to 1 ctw or larger.
How do lab-grown compare to mined diamonds in price?

How do I care for lab-grown diamond studs?
Same care as mined. Wipe with a soft microfiber cloth after wear to remove skin oils and lotion residue. Once a month, soak in warm water with a drop of dish soap for 10 minutes, then rinse and pat dry. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners on the smallest sizes (vibration can loosen small prongs over time). Store separately in the padded box that comes with your pair to prevent the stones from scratching each other. Take them off before applying hairspray, perfume, or heavy lotions.
