Built for daily life. Cared for in seconds.
Tungsten, ceramic, and titanium are among the most durable materials in fine jewelry. Your ring is built to outlast the day-to-day — showers, dishes, sleep, the gym. A 30-second weekly clean keeps it sharp for years. Here’s the full guide.
See the 30-Second Routine
The short version: Wear it. Live in it. Don’t overthink it. Showers, swimming, dishes, sleep, and casual workouts are all fine. Take it off for heavy weightlifting, beach sand, harsh chemicals, and contact sports. Once a week, 30 seconds with warm water and a soft toothbrush. That’s the whole maintenance routine.

Covered for life
A few situations. Everything else, fine.
Take the Ring Off For
- Heavy weightlifting. Gripping a barbell with your full body weight can pinch the finger against the ring — a hand-safety concern, not a ring issue. Use a chain or pocket during heavy lifts.
- Beach sand, gravel, concrete work. Abrasive materials dull a polished surface over time. The ring stays structurally fine; the finish lasts longer when protected.
- Heavy chemical exposure. Bleach, high-concentration pool chlorine, industrial solvents. Brief contact is fine; prolonged soaking is not.
- Contact sports. MMA, boxing, climbing, anything where the hand could get caught or the ring crushed.
Totally Fine to Keep It On For
- Showering, swimming, hand-washing, dishes
- Sleeping
- Day-to-day work — typing, driving, cooking
- Gardening, hiking, most outdoor activities
- Casual workouts, cardio, light lifting
Once a week. That’s the whole thing.
Warm Water & Dish Soap
A drop of regular dish soap in warm water. No special jewelry cleaner needed. No ultrasonic device required.
Soft Toothbrush
An old toothbrush works perfectly. Gentle scrub around the band, inside the ring, and into any engraved details.
Rinse & Pat Dry
Rinse with warm water. Pat dry with a soft cloth. Microfiber for polished finishes; gentle wipe for brushed or matte.
Each material, handled.
Tungsten
The most durable material in fine jewelry. Won’t scratch under everyday wear, won’t bend or warp. Tungsten cannot be resized — if you need a different size, see Lifetime Sizing.
Ceramic
Lightweight, scratch-resistant, hypoallergenic. Slightly more brittle than tungsten under direct hard impact (dropping onto tile from height) but in normal wear, bulletproof.
Wood Inlay
The wood is sealed and protected, but prolonged soaking can affect the seal over time. Quick showers and hand-washing are fine; don’t leave it submerged.
Stone & Lava Rock Inlay
The stone is set with industrial-grade adhesive and is extremely secure. Avoid sharp direct impact on the inlay area to keep it pristine.
Titanium & Cobalt
Durable, lightweight, hypoallergenic. Treat the same as tungsten — wear it freely.
Laser-etched. Permanent.
If your ring is engraved, the engraving is laser-etched directly into the metal — not a coating, not a fill. It won’t wear off. It won’t fade.
Because the engraving sits below the surface, the only thing that affects its appearance over time is dirt building up inside the etched letters. The weekly soft-toothbrush cleaning handles that completely.
Sizing isn’t one-and-done. Neither are we.
Tungsten, ceramic, and titanium rings can’t be physically resized — the material is too hard to stretch or compress. Instead, we replace the ring with a new one in your new size, identical to the original.
Lifetime Sizing is available to the original purchaser at a small flat fee, with no time limit. Standard 30-day exchanges are free; after that, sizing is $34.50 from days 31–365 and $54.50 after that. Items priced over $1,000 carry a 25% surcharge at every tier. Engraved? We carry the engraving over to the replacement at no charge.
Read the Lifetime Sizing DetailsBuilt to last. Backed when it doesn’t.
Scratched the Finish
Tungsten and ceramic resist scratches under normal wear, but if something happens, message us — refinishing options are available.
Damaged Inlay
Wood or stone inlay damage is rare but possible from extreme impact. Send photos to sales@shopaydins.com and we’ll quote a repair or replacement.
Lost the Ring
Loss after delivery isn’t covered under warranty, but we’ll help you replace it — often at a returning-customer rate.
Manufacturing Defect
Covered under the lifetime warranty. Free in the first 6 months, $34.50 from 6–12 months, $54.50 after. See the full warranty details.
When the ring sits. Keep it sharp.
If you take the ring off for an extended stretch — travel, hospital stay, long project:
- Store it in a soft pouch or the original box.
- Keep wood or stone inlay out of direct sunlight (UV can fade certain wood species over years).
- Avoid storing it loose in a drawer with other metal items — won’t damage the ring, but can dull finishes on contact.
Care, answered.
Can I shower with my ring on?
Yes. Tungsten, ceramic, and titanium are unaffected by soap, water, or shampoo. Wood inlay tolerates brief water exposure but shouldn’t be soaked for long periods.
Can I sleep with it on?
Yes. The ring won’t damage from sleep wear. If you find yourself rolling onto your hand, that’s a comfort issue, not a ring issue.
Will the engraving fade?
No. Laser engraving is etched into the metal itself, not applied to the surface. It’s permanent.
What if my ring stops fitting?
Tungsten, ceramic, and titanium can’t be resized — the material is too hard. Instead, we ship a new ring in your new size, identical to the original. Standard 30-day exchanges are free; after that, sizing is covered under Lifetime Sizing at a small flat fee.
Do I need a special jewelry cleaner?
No. Warm water and a drop of regular dish soap clean the ring completely. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners on rings with wood or stone inlay.
What if my ring gets scratched?
Tungsten and ceramic resist scratches under normal wear. If a scratch shows up, message us — we offer refinishing for a small fee.
Is my ring covered if it cracks?
Manufacturing defects are covered under the lifetime warranty — free in the first 6 months, $34.50 from 6–12 months, $54.50 after. See the full warranty details.

Caring for your engagement ring
Lab-grown diamonds set in 14K gold need different care than tungsten or ceramic. Diamonds are extremely hard (10 on the Mohs scale, same as natural), but the gold band is softer and can scratch. Here is what to know.
Weekly cleaning, 60 seconds
Soak your ring in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap (Dawn works) for 2 minutes. Brush gently with a soft toothbrush, especially behind the diamond where lotion and skin oils collect. Rinse, then pat dry with a soft lint-free cloth. Skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners at home, leave those to a jeweler.
Take it off for
Swimming pools and hot tubs (chlorine degrades gold over time). Gym workouts with heavy weights or barbells (impact can loosen prongs). Cleaning with bleach, ammonia, or harsh chemicals. Gardening or DIY projects with abrasive materials. Sleeping is your call, but removing it nightly extends prong life.
Prong check, annually
Once a year, run a fingernail across the top of the prongs. If you feel a snag or one prong feels different from the others, the prong may need re-tipping. Aydins offers prong inspection and tightening through our Lifetime Warranty Program. Email service@shopaydins.com to start a service ticket.
Storage
Store your ring in the original Aydins gift box or a soft fabric pouch, separated from other jewelry. Diamonds can scratch other gemstones and metals. Tossing rings together in a jewelry tray over time creates micro-scratches on the gold band.
Professional cleaning, once a year
Bring your ring (or mail it back) for a free professional ultrasonic cleaning and inspection once a year. We clean, polish, check prongs, and verify the diamond is secure. This is included with your Aydins Lifetime Warranty Program.
What about the IGI certificate?
Store the physical IGI certificate that ships with your ring in a fireproof safe or document folder, separately from the ring itself. The cert is your proof of authenticity for insurance purposes. Make a digital scan or photo and save it to cloud storage as a backup. If lost, request a duplicate from IGI using the certificate number (small fee applies).
Insurance
We strongly recommend insuring your engagement ring through Jewelers Mutual, BriteCo, or your existing homeowner or renter insurance with a scheduled jewelry rider. Aydins Lifetime Warranty covers manufacturing defects, not loss or theft. Most insurance plans cost about 1 to 2 percent of the ring value per year. For a ,000 ring, that is about to annually.
