14k vs 18k gold and 14k vs platinum
14k is 58.3 percent gold. 18k is 75 percent gold, which shows a slightly richer color but is softer and shows daily-wear scratches faster. Platinum is a completely different metal, 95 percent pure, denser and heavier than gold, naturally white with no plating needed. 14k gold is the workhorse choice for most wedding bands because it balances color, hardness, and price better than either 18k or platinum for daily wear.

What's Not Covered
The warranty covers how we built the ring, not what happens to it after you take it home. The following aren't covered:
- Damage from drops, sharp impact, or excessive force
- Wear caused by chlorine, harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaning, or improper care
- Lost rings
- Damage from at-home sizing or resizing attempts (always use the Lifetime Sizing Program)
- Normal cosmetic wear over time on softer metals (small scratches, patina)
Aydins Lifetime Sizing Program
Your finger size will change over the years. The Lifetime Sizing Program is how we make sure your ring keeps fitting, no matter how long you've owned it.
It works like this:
- If your size changes at any point in your life, we will send you the same ring in your new size for a small re-sizing fee, not the full retail price.
- You ship your original ring back to us, and we ship the replacement out to you.
- The full process is handled through our Returns & Exchanges portal, so you can track everything from start to finish.
The exact process depends on the metal (some can be resized, others are replaced), but the outcome is the same: you stay in a ring that fits, for life.

Is this ring solid 14k gold or gold plated?
This ring is solid 14k gold. Not plated, not filled, not a gold-colored coating over a base metal. 14k is a real gold alloy that is 58.3 percent pure gold blended with stronger metals for daily-wear durability. The alloy runs through the whole ring, not just the surface, which is why it holds its color and value over decades of wear. Yellow and white both use the same 14k gold base; the alloy proportions and rhodium plating for white produce the color.
What is the difference between 14k, 10k, and 18k gold?
14k is 58.3 percent pure gold, 10k is 41.7 percent, 18k is 75 percent. The other percentage is alloy metals that add strength. Higher karat means richer gold color but softer metal that shows scratches faster. 10k is harder and lower-priced. 18k has the richest color but marks up faster with daily wear. 14k is the balance most people choose for a wedding band: rich gold color plus enough hardness to handle everyday use. Is 14k gold good for daily wear?
Yes. 14k is the standard wedding band karat because it balances color richness and hardness well. It handles work, gym, travel, and everyday use with only occasional care. Yellow 14k needs no special maintenance beyond an occasional wipe. White 14k is rhodium plated for the bright silver-white finish; that plating wears down over 3 to 5 years and can be re-applied at any jeweler. Do yellow and white gold cost the same?
Yes. Both colors within the same karat use the same amount of pure gold. The alloy metals mixed in to produce the color are inexpensive compared to gold, so the price is essentially the same. What changes the price on this listing is the width you choose. A 4mm 14k gold band uses less metal than an 8mm 14k gold band, so wider widths cost more regardless of color.
Can this ring be engraved?
Yes. Free inside engraving is included on every order, up to 30 characters. Engraving is applied at our Texas workshop the day your order comes in. Common engravings include wedding date, initials, a short message, or a coordinate. Because engraving is included free, you do not pay extra to personalize the ring. If you exchange or resize the ring later under the Aydins Lifetime Sizing program, the replacement ring is re-engraved free. Engraving is inside only; the outside of the ring stays smooth.
Is it comfort fit and what does that mean?
Yes, comfort fit. The inside of the ring is rounded rather than flat, so the ring slides over the knuckle easily and sits smooth against the finger without pinching. Comfort fit rings feel about a half size larger than a standard-fit ring, so if you are between sizes we recommend ordering your normal ring size. Comfort fit is the standard style for modern wedding bands because it is easier to put on and more comfortable during long wear. It also reduces the pressure marks that a flat interior can leave.
What warranty, returns, and sizing policy backs this ring?
Every Aydins ring is backed by the Aydins Lifetime Warranty. Free coverage in the first 6 months against breaks and material defects. Returns are accepted within 30 days from delivery. Because this ring includes free engraving, engraved rings are exchange only rather than returnable. Free exchanges within the first 30 days on unengraved rings. Engraved exchanges within the first 30 days are $34.50. After the first 30 days for sizing, and after 6 months for warranty replacement, precious metal rings work a little differently than our tungsten or ceramic rings. Because 14k gold requires new metal at current market cost and gold prices fluctuate, sizing and warranty fees for gold rings are quoted per case based on current gold prices at the time. Contact us before ordering a sizing or warranty exchange and we will send a current quote. Lifetime Sizing is available for the original purchaser only.
