The NIKNAM uses a lab-recreated meteorite material that mimics those silver-gray cosmic bands. On top of that material sits a silver tungsten honeycomb lattice - a precision-cut grid of hexagonal openings.

From a distance the ring reads as a dark band with a textured silver center. Up close, the honeycomb pattern reveals itself and the meteorite's cosmic crystalline bands become visible inside each cell.
